Worth the money?

Are memory supplements worth it? A cost and evidence check

Quick answer

Are memory supplements worth it? For most healthy adults the evidence says probably not: NIA recommends none, and an expert panel could not endorse any ingredient. The cost is real, and sleep and activity are free. If you still want to try one, compare the label amount with the studied dose first.

Are memory supplements worth it for most people?

Are memory supplements worth it for most people? The best summaries say not for prevention: NIA recommends no supplement, and the GCBH expert panel could not endorse any brain-health ingredient (NIA, Cognitive health and older adults) (GCBH 2019, supplements and brain).

The evidence is not a verdict on you.

Some people find a low-cost supplement worth trying. The sources simply do not promise a measurable result.

Does the dose on a memory supplement label match the studies?

Often it does not, and this is the quickest check of a memory supplement worth buying: compare the label with the dose in the study.

The chart plots each MemoHoney row against the amounts used in studies, on a log scale. The studies were not tests of the capsule, and none shows a memory gain at the label amounts (Teotia 2026, oral arginine pilot).

  • Studies: 6.4 g a day in one memory pilot; up to 30 g a day for 90 days in a safety trial. Studies used about 16 to 75 times the label amount. (Teotia 2026, oral arginine pilot) (McNeal 2018, arginine 30 g safety)

  • L-Citrulline (HCl + malate)200 mg on the label

Studies: 3 to 9 g a day in exercise and blood pressure trials; no memory trial found. Studies used about 15 to 45 times the label amount. (Chen 2016, BCAA arginine citrulline) (Trexler 2019, citrulline meta)

  • Beta Alanine40 mg on the label

Studies: 1.6 to 6.4 g a day; ISSN says 4 to 6 g a day; no cognitive change in the one test found. Studies used about 40 to 160 times the label amount. (Hoffman 2014, beta-alanine soldiers) (ISSN beta-alanine stand)

  • Niacin7.5 mg on the label

Reference: 16 mg NE is the Daily Value; 35 mg a day is the upper limit for supplements. The label is 47% of the Daily Value and 21% of the upper limit for supplements. (NIH ODS, Niacin)

  • Calcium18 mg on the label

Reference: adults need about 1,000 mg a day from all sources; the cognition trial used 1,000 mg with vitamin D. The label is about 2% of what an adult man needs in a day. (NIH ODS, Calcium) (Rossom 2012, WHI calcium + D)

Log scale: each gridline is ten times the one before. Studied ranges are daily amounts from the trials linked on each row; the arginine row compares the label's 400 mg (200 mg base plus 200 mg of an AKG extract) with arginine studies, and the citrulline row 200 mg (two forms) with citrulline studies. Niacin and calcium rows show reference levels, not study doses. A bar being far away does not mean the capsule is unsafe or useless; it means the study results cannot be borrowed for it.

What does a memory supplement really cost?

A memory supplement costs the checkout total divided by the days it lasts, and a bottle of MemoHoney lasts 30 days at one capsule a day.

We print no price because it changes. Divide the checkout total by the days in the pack, then compare it with the free options.

Would the MemoHoney capsule be worth it?

Only you can decide that, but the label is plain: seven rows, every amount printed, no proprietary blend, and no trial of the product.

One capsule holds 640 mg of three amino acids, plus niacin and calcium, and no honey. Arginine can drop blood pressure too far with nitrates, sildenafil-type medicines and blood pressure medicines, so ask your doctor or pharmacist first. Keep taking prescribed medicine; call 911 for chest pain, fainting or trouble breathing. Memory problems that are new or getting worse need a clinician. Read the supplement facts line by line.

FAQ

MemoHoney questions people ask

Is it worth taking a memory supplement every day?

For prevention, public health sources do not recommend it. NIA advises no supplement for memory, and a Cochrane review saw no meaningful effect of vitamin and mineral strategies.

Is a memory supplement worth buying if I have forgetfulness?

See a clinician first. Forgetfulness has treatable contributors such as thyroid, kidney or liver problems, medicine side effects, depression, poor sleep and low B12. A capsule cannot sort normal aging from a medical problem, so a check-up comes before any purchase.

What is a memory supplement worth buying like?

One with a label that prints every amount, no proprietary blend, a named maker, and honest claims. Even then, the studied doses are often far above the label. MemoHoney prints every amount but does not name its manufacturer and has no product trial.
